NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND-UP FOR 3/31/08 :

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series opened over the weekend, and the defending and two-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS has set the stage in quest of his third straight title with two wins.  The two victories put Keeton on top of the West Region standings with 92 points.

Dana Eiland of Salem, AL used a pair of third-place finishes aboard the Andy’s Auto Parts Swartz on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL to top the list in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region with 90 points.

Keeton drove his #22 Boland Performance Trak-Star to victories on Friday night at Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg , MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian , MS on Saturday night.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS posted a pair of top five finishes on Friday night at Southern Speedway, and on Saturday night at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA to move into the second spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region with 76 points driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.

Herman Reynolds of Laurel, MS is third with 68 points, and Gabe Windham is fourth with 62 points.  Talbert Goldman of Meridian , MS finished second to Keeton at Whynot Motorsports Park , and is fifth in the West Region standings with 48 points.

Rusty Ellis of Brewton, AL drove the L&W Insulation Trak-Star to victory on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, and is tied for the sixth spot with Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS with 46 points.

Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL and Chris Jimerson of Meridian, MS are tied for the eight spot in the WRS West Region with 44 points, and Randy King of Meridian, MS and Bo Odom of Brewton, AL are tied for tenth with 42 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action over the weekend, Jason Warner of Franklinton, LA took the win on Saturday night at A1 Raceway driving the J&A Trucking Mastersbilt, and Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS in the Tiffin Motorhomes Mastersbilt.

Richard Stephens of Phenix City, AL was the winner on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Pass Racing GRT, and is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 84 points. 

Anthony Meadows of Lanett , AL drove the Meadows Construction GRT to victory on Friday night at Penton Raceway, and is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 78 points.  Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL used a pair of top ten finishes at Penton Raceway and East Alabama Motor Speedway to settle into the fourth spot with 63 points.

Mark Patterson of Valley, AL is fifth with 60 points, and Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL finished second to Stephens at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday night to claim the sixth spot in the WRS East Region standings with 48 points.  Shane Thompson of Phenix City, AL finished second to Meadows at Penton Raceway on Friday night, and is seventh in points with 46.

Larry Harrod of Plains, GA is eighth with 44 points in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings, while Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA and Ricky Culpepper of Hamilton, GA are tied for the tenth spot with 42 points. 

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action, James Ussery of Pace, FL was the winner on Saturday night at Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway in Dothan , AL .

Mother Nature was also a winner over the weekend, as rain washed out the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region events on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe , AL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga , AL . 

Three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks will open this coming weekend with Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA opening this Friday night, and Butler County Motorsports Park in Greenville, AL opening this Saturday night in the West Region.  Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon , IN opens this Saturday night in the East Region.
