SIGNS UP WITH NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS FOR 2008
CARTERSVILLE, GA – East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix
City, AL has signed up with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series
for the 2008 season. East
Alabama Motor Speedway, a Saturday night track, will now team up with
the Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, a Friday night track, to give area
crate late model competitors a better chance in the Regional points.
Under the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series banner, crate
late model competitors at East Alabama Motor Speedway will not only
compete for a track point fund, but also a Regional point fund using
their best 16 finishes during the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series season that runs from March 28 through September 28.
“East Alabama Motor Speedway has a long and proud tradition
in dirt late model racing, and we’re excited to have them as a part
of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series,” NeSmith Chevrolet

said. “There are a large
number of drivers that compete at EAMS on Saturday night and Penton
Raceway on Friday night that will be in the hunt for the NeSmith
Chevrolet WRS East Region Championship.”
In addition, the top six drivers in the
East Alabama Motor Speedway Crate Late Model Division point standings,
excluding any top six Regional point drivers, will be invited to the 3rd
Annual Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus
Speedway in Columbus, MS on November 28, 2008.

Track Champion will also be eligible to compete in the Race of
Champions, and top six Regional point drivers will compete in the Race
of Regions during the Fall Nationals in
Columbus

MS
.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions
will receive a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new dirt
late model chassis.
East
Alabama
Motor
Speedway
will also team up with Penton Raceway for a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet
Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events in July.
Billed as “Alabama Bonus Bucks
Weekend,” Penton Raceway will host a 40-lap $2,500-to-win NeSmith
Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event on Friday night, July 18, and
then EAMS will also host a 40-lap $2,500-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS
National Touring event on Saturday night, July 19.
If a driver can win both races, a $2,000 Bonus will be paid.
“We’re looking forward to a big
season with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and working
with our Friday night partner Penton Raceway,”
East Alabama
Motor Speedway General Manager Beverly Thompson said.
“We had our first practice on Saturday and had 18 late models
there. They all seemed
excited about being a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing
Series.”
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model
Series and the Weekly Racing Series feature dirt late models powered
by the economical GM Performance Crate Engine that are built and
sealed at the GM factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604
engine can be purchased for right at $5,000, and the 350 horsepower
steel-head 602 engine can be purchased for right at $3,000.
